Course materials are also used for study and review by any student with an internet connection. There is no charge for course-related events and equipment, or for use of permanent equipment in a classroom. All other applications are chargeable. It also has a full set of faculty-student communication tools, such as class discussion groups, e-mail, digital file drop for submitting/returning assignments, and online assessments. OIT automatically builds Blackboard sites for all Princeton courses. For: Faculty Students Digital media storage, digitizing, cataloguing, and online displayETC has developed and maintains the Almagest multimedia database for cataloguing images, video segments, animations and other media for use in teaching. Material is entered, edited, and displayed online using a web browser. Training is provided. Advice on digitizing slides and photographs is also available. ETC can help to expedite (and in some cases cover the costs of) digitizing image collections by sending them to an outside vendor for scanning. If there are only a few items to scan, the New Media Center provides a convenient walk-in service and access to several state-of-the-art scanners.
