AV equipment rental

Media Services provides general audiovisual equipment support for classes and student groups on a "user will pick up" basis. There is no charge for course-related events and equipment, or for use of permanent equipment in a classroom. All other applications are chargeable.

AV technician services

For non-course events Media Services will provide certain services, as requested, but at a fee. Applicable services include: on-site technicians, videographers, and student operators. Overtime rates are charged outside normal working hours.

Blackboard course management system

Blackboard provides an easy-to-use environment for storing course information and documents. It also has a full set of faculty-student communication tools, such as class discussion groups, e-mail, digital file drop for submitting/returning assignments, and online assessments.

CD/DVD duplication and printing

The New Media Center offers a charged service of limited CD/DVD duplication of non-copyrighted materials. The NMC also offers charged service for limited CD/DVD printing.

Classroom AV equipment

Media Services maintains stationary audiovisual support systems for use by Princeton classes, and provides hands-on training on all aspects of those systems. Media Services also performs equipment maintenance, repairs and alignments.

Color printing

The New Media Center has two color printers available to our walk-in customers. Customers can print on matte or glossy stock at letter or tabloid sizes. Use of our color pages is chargeable on a per-page basis.

Digital video production, editing and authoring

The Broadcast Center offers video production services for Academic and Administrative Departments. There is no labor charge for course related video production services. The NMC does charge for non-course related and administrative DVD authoring and video production projects. There is also a charge for media used during production on all projects.

Event simulcast

The Broadcast Center maintains equipment for simulcasting Princeton University events, part of which can be passed to the appropriate OIT department for web streaming and ultimate archiving. Simulcasts use campus TV channel 7 and are distributed to the community over Patriot Media channel 27.

Film/video projection services

Media Services provides film projection, both 16mm and 35mm in the Jimmy Stewart Theater, 185 Nassau St. Projection is in support of courses for Visual Arts, Women's Studies, Italian, Art Museum, and Comparative Literature departments.

Help using digital media, and access to scanning and digital AV equipment at the New Media Center

The New Media Center has advertised walk-in hours when customers can stop in for assistance in the areas of web publishing, coding/scripting, typesetting, graphics development, and video/audio/multimedia projects. Experienced customers can book time on our machines to work on projects.

High performance computing infrastructure installation and problem solving support

CSES helps research groups and departments design, troubleshoot and install High Performance Computing resources.

CSES provides High Performance Computing resources including the adrOIT Beowulf cluster and the Princeton OIT Condor pool. These resources are available as teaching tools, prototyping tools and production research tools.

IT training

Each term Academic Services offers a series of free brown bag lunch lectures and hands-on workshops to instruct our customers in new media topics and applications. Although workshop enrollment is currently limited to faculty and students, anyone from the University community may attend our lectures.

Language Learning software

The HRC distributes language audio and video materials, predominantly online. We also have a collection of language learning software available for use in the LRC

Media sales to New Media Center walk-in customers

The New Media Center keeps a small stock of digital storage media for sale to its walk-in consulting customers so they can take their projects with them when they leave.

Office Hours Scheduling System

This system lets faculty (or others) create one or more office hour schedules. Students (or others) access these schedules using a web browser, and can use the schedules to set up an appointment. When they do so, the faculty member receives an e-mail notification, and the student can opt to have a reminder sent to them the day prior to the appointment. The system lets faculty change, view and modify their schedules, with appropriate e-mail notifications sent to anyone having a scheduled appointment. Students can see their pending appoinments, and cancel them if necessary.

CSES provides repositories for basic software commonly used in research. This software includes both public and commercial licensed software.
